PSL investigation: Mohammad Irfan appears before PCB,s ACU

LAHORE: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Irfan was presented before the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) on Monday.

Batsman Shahzaib Hasan, who along with Irfan has been summoned by the PCB in relation to the board’s investigation into alleged corruption in the Pakistan Super League second edition, will appear before the ACU tomorrow.

Both the players will have their video statements recorded with the PCB.

Islamabad United’s Mohammad Irfan and Karachi Kings’ Shahzaib Hasan had also been called in for questioning by the PCB during the tournament in Dubai last month but were cleared to play in their remaining matches.

The PCB’s ACU will now record their statements and determine whether to charge them or not, a PCB spokesperson informed earlier.

Islamabad United openers Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have already been charged by the PCB for attempting to spot-fix a match, among other code-of-conduct breaches. The PCB has established a three-member tribunal to hear their cases later this month.

Sources revealed to over the weekend that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has received mobile phone data of Sharjeel and Latif. The FIA will conduct a forensic evaluation of the mobile phones of both the cricketers.
